Spitfires of No 65 Squadron, September 1939

No 65 Squadron converted to Spitfires in March 1939. In June 1940 it flew offensive patrols over France and the Low Countries, covering the BEF’s evacuation from Dunkirk. Wladyslaw Szulkowski joined them in August 1940 and took part in the Battle of Britain, fighting until the end of August when the squadron moved to Scotland.
